Ready, set, action
Motionless swings at the park waiting for action. Diego Rodriguez says, “In doing there is knowing. We learn via our mistakes, and we make many more mistakes of value when we take action.”
It is not enough to know what to do, we must act. It is not enough to do Strategic Visioning, we have to implement. It is not enough to do Executive Coaching, the individual and the organization must choose to change and adapt together.
Long-time readers know that I encourage reflection and time to think. But there is balance between reflection and action. As we approach the end of the year, where do you find your organization on the pendulum swing between reflection and action? What goals have been accomplished and celebrated? What are your dreams for the coming year? What actions can you take today that will lead to knowing and more action?
Good morning. What a lovely way to give us all a good ‘kick in the pants’. Thank you.
I was just doing some strategic planning over breakfast this morning reflecting on what my marketing plan should include, what equipment I might need to upgrade, and especially what positions I’d like to fill, once the projects comes rolling in. But your right – that reflecting on what I want for next year needs some real actions behind it to make it happen.
Like many colleagues I know, I realized reading your blog that I too am guillty of the ‘no action’ mode. The recession has taken a lot of wind out of our sails – and sales. It’s been difficult to make cold calls as well as warm ones because the reactions from the other end of the phone lines has been depressing.
But I do feel an optimistic breeze; perhaps from organizations that are finally letting go of holding their breath. This may be the time to take advantage of some movement and get back into the marketing mode to really drive the changes I’d like to see in my business next year.
Thanks for the reminder that planning is excellent – but implementation is critical!
Have a fabulous day.
With a smile,
Debbie King
